Product description
This surcoat is perfect for children who want to dress up as a Hospitaller. The Hospitallers cross is pictured on the front. It has splits at the front and back for running.
The Sovereign military hospital order of St. John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and Malta, or the Order of the Hospitaliers, was an order that began in 1080 as a hospital in Jerusalem. The purpose was originally to provide assistance to the poor, sick or wounded pilgrims. After the Christians conquered Jerusalem in 1099, it became the first religious-military order, charged with defending and caring for the Holy Land. After the reconquest of the Muslims, the order successively took Rhodes and Malta as headquarters.
Surcoats were often worn in the Holy Land, not only against the heat, but also as a landmark for fellow fighters.
